We have single and double bedrooms available. Single rooms are all in excess of 12 square metres, double rooms are all in excess of 30 square metres and all have adjoining en-suite toilet and wash hand basin facilities. All rooms are comfortably furnished and each is equipped with a personal telephone and a Nurse Call System. The first floor is accessible by a lift and staircases.

There are two spacious lounges with seating areas throughout the building in which residents and visitors can relax and enjoy the many in house social activities, an oratory is available for quiet prayer. Our Kitchen serves a large bright dining room, where meals are served.  There are nine additional toilets throughout the building and assisted bathrooms for those who enjoy a bath.

The Director of Nursing and the administrator can be accessed in their own offices and nurses are available at the nurses’ station or by call bell.

Outdoors we have fenced grounds adjacent to the river with an internal, furnished, courtyard central to the building. There is a path circling the building which allows access to all areas of the garden and grounds.

Car parking is available within the grounds.

Local Amenities

Our private nursing home is situated in the village of Oughterard, known as the ‘Gateway to Connemara’, on the Owenriff River, which flows into the beautiful Lough Corrib.

Oughterard Manor is 17km from Galway City on the N59, Clifden Road and 17km from Galway Airport.  Daily public and private Bus services operate to and from Galway City, from where Intercity Trains and Buses operate nationally.

Oughterard is a lovely historic village, with it’s traditional stone fronts and the 16th Century Aughanure Castle, set on the western shore of Lough Corrib, the largest lake in the Irish Republic.

The Connemara Mountains, just West of town, provide some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world. The rocky landscape, turf field, scattered lakes and sheep dotting the mountainsides are sights you will never forget.

Another of Oughterard’s gems is the scenic 18 hole championship golf course, with it’s trademark limestone walls, which will delight even the most experienced golfer.

The nationally renowned Oughterard Show, which has been running since 1962, takes place on the last weekend of August every year. Some of the added attractions include Gymkhana, Fancy Dress competitions, Obstacle Races, Domestic Arts, Vintage, Cattle, Sheep, Ponies,  Donkeys, Working Sheep Dogs, Horses, Dogs and Pets, a great day for all.
